SMART Recovery offers a range of programs and meetings designed to support people seeking change around substance use and addictive behaviours. All SMART Recovery programs are grounded in evidence-based methods and focus on building practical skills that support self-directed change.

SMART Recovery 4-Point meetings are designed for people seeking change around substance use or other addictive behaviours, including activity-based or process behaviours. Meetings are interactive and focus on discussion, shared experiences, and the use of practical tools.
Participants are encouraged to set their own goals and decide what changes they want to work toward. SMART Recovery does not require abstinence and can be used alongside other supports, including treatment, counselling, medication, or harm reduction services.

SMART Family and Friends is a program for people who are affected by someone else’s substance use or addictive behaviours. The program is based on evidence-informed tools and approaches that help participants improve communication, set boundaries, and reduce stress.
Family and Friends meetings focus on helping participants support positive change while also taking care of their own wellbeing. Meetings provide a space to learn, practice tools, and connect with others who share similar experiences.

Successful LifeSkills is a structured, skills-based program that builds on SMART Recovery principles. It is designed for people who prefer a more guided group experience over a set period of time.
The program focuses on building coping skills, confidence, and routines that support stability and personal goals. Participants are encouraged to apply what they learn between sessions.

SMART Recovery offers meetings specifically for members of the military, veterans, first responders, and their families. These focused meetings recognize the unique stressors, responsibilities, and experiences that can affect wellbeing.
These meetings support participants as they work through anxiety, stress, and other challenges that may contribute to unhealthy coping behaviours, including substance use or engaging in risky behaviours that can compound existing difficulties.
Meetings provide a peer-supported space to learn practical tools, share experiences, and explore change at an individual pace.

SMART Recovery offers LGBTQIA+ focused meetings facilitated by individuals from diverse genders and sexual orientations who are trained to create an inclusive and affirming environment.
These meetings provide a private and supportive space where participants can share experiences, learn practical tools, and connect with peers who understand the unique challenges and strengths of LGBTQIA+ communities.

SMART Recovery offers women-only meetings for those who prefer a space focused on shared experiences and perspectives.
These meetings provide a supportive environment where participants can explore change, learn practical tools, and engage in open discussion with other women in a setting designed to promote comfort, respect, and mutual support.

SMART Youth adapts SMART Recovery tools for young people in an age-appropriate way. The program focuses on decision-making, emotional awareness, coping skills, and behaviour change.
SMART Youth programs support young people in building confidence and practical skills while respecting choice and individual goals.
Youth programming availability varies and continues to develop in Canada.
